Hello!

Write The English Idioms U Know With Their Definitions Or Usage Here In This Part!
I'll write some which are categorized into groups. Each group includes the idioms that have a same word in them.

*WORLD*


1. Make a world of difference:
Improve something very much.

2. Have all the cares of the world on your shoulder:
To be worried by many different problems.

3. The world is somebody's oyster:
When the world is somebody's oyster, they can do what they want to or go where they want to.

4. Be in a world of your own :
Thinking only about your ideas and not paying attention to what is happening around you.

5. Be in another world:
The same as number 4 !

6. Have the world at your feet:
To be extremely successful and admired by a great number of people.

7.Make the world go around/round:
To be extremely important, so that many ordinary events couldn't happen without it.
Example: Love/Money makes the world go around.

8. A man/woman of the world:
Someone who has a lot of experience of life and people and can deal with most situations.

9. Not be the end of the world:
Something that won't cause serious problems.

10.For all the world:
Exactly.

11. Not for all the world:
Never; not in any situation.

12. Be dead to the world:
To be sleeping.

13. Not long for this world:
When Someone is not long for this world, they will die soon.

14. The ways of the world:
Types of behavior and ways of doing things that are acceptable.

15. Without a care in the world:
Without worrying about anything. ( to be carefree)

*MONEY*


1. Marry money:
Marry a rich person!

2. Money Talks:
Said about people or organizations that are rich, and can therefore get or do what they want.

3.Time is money:
Said to emphasize that you should not waste time, because you could be using it to earn money.
4. Be made of money : Rolling in money : To be a money person : To be a man/woman of means:
Extremely rich.

5. Have money to burn! :
To spend a lot of money on thing that are not necessary.

6.The smart money is on/says…:
If the smart money is on something or says something that thing is considered to be likely to happen.

7. For my money:
In my opinion.

8. Save/Keep money for a rainy day:
To save money for a time when it might be needed unexpectedly.

9.Throw money at something:
To spend a lot of money on trying to solve a problem.

10. Put (your) money on somebody/something:
1) To risk money on someone or something winning a race or competition.
2) To strongly believe that someone will do something or something will happen.

11. Put your money where your mouth is:
To show by your actions and not just your words that you support or believe in something

...جز گفتن این که

*HAND*

1. at hand : on hand : to hand :
near in time or position or easily available

2. near at hand : ready to hand :
near enough to u for u to reach it

3. hand in glove : hand and glove :
working together often to do s.th dishonest

4.live from hand to mouth : keep body & soul together :
to have just enough money to live on and nothing extra

5. force s.b's hand :
to make s.o do s.th that they don't want to do

6. pump s.b's hand --> informal :
to shake s.o's hand

7. show ur hand :
to allow people to know about intentions that u had previously kept secret

8. go hand in hand with s.th :
if s.th goes hand in hand with s.th else, it is closely related to it & happens at the same time as it or as a result of it

9. keep ur hand in :
to practice a skill often enough so that u don't lose it

10. lay a hand on s.b :
to harm s.o

11. go cap in hand to s.b :
to ask s.o in a polite and sincere way for s.th especially money or to be forgiven

12. bite the hand that feeds u :
to act badly toward the person who is helping or has helped u

13. put ur hand in ur pocket :
to give money to s.o ( especially poor people ) or to charity

14. know s.th like the back of ur hand :
to have very good & very detailed knowledge of s.th

15. have s.b in the palm of ur hand :
to have complete control over s.o and to be able to make them do anything u want

16. raise ur hand to/against s.b :
to hit s.o

17. give/hand s.th to s.b on a plate :
to allow s.o to get or win s.th very easily
